The US government will not do so for three main reasons: (1) The Junta that rules Myanmar/Burma is strong enough to fight back. Saddam had been so weakened by years of war and sanctions that his regime collapsed like a pack of cards as soon as invaded. (2) Unlike Iraq, Myanmar/Burma has a large democratic opposition -- large enough to have won elections. There would be little choice, upon defeating to Junta, to putting this democratic opposition into power, and that would be unacceptable to the US government, despite all their talk of promoting freedom and democracy. (3) Finally, Myanmar/Burma has a lot of oil and a lot of western oil corporations do business there in collaboration with the Junta. There's no need to invade to get the oil.

its hypocrisy. yes . why not beacuse you would bit h about it. im so glad you wont have bush to blame soon. then who will you blame? we cant spead this freedom you must want it. invade means to enter as an enemy. the world should take note and be greatfull, that we do not conqure.because we could. if you want freedom only a american will fight and die to help you achive that. these words you used occupy and invade caught my attintion. because im angry as a american that thats not what we are doing. i want invasion , i wish we would conqure. i want my enemy demoralized. .... anyway..if they said go a american would be fighting and dieing for the freedom of the people of burma to... who else? who? so to answer your why ? because we wernt oked to . but we are the only ones willing to.

That would be great to liberate those people, they wish for it.pray for it. have died for it.we must invade and take out the military leaders and give them democracy which they would immediately embrace and then we would leave in just a few months.
