Bet you did not have a home inspection, did ya and tried to save a couple of hundred bucks. This is what happens and what I tell my clients. How many surprises can you afford? sorry you are out of luck on this one.

You may still have a recourse against the seller. If the problem was not disclosed in the disclosure and existed prior to the sale. You need to see a lawyer fast as time is not on your side in this issue. Have an electrical contractor inspect the entire homes electrical system. Faulty electrical systems will be covered in your disclosure statement.

we signed a "as is whereis" clause on the title. this means you accepted the house as is and waived your right to recourse. you also did not have an inspection done ( I guess) or you could sue the inspector... strike one and two are listed above strike three is you are out of options but you can pay for the repairs and learn from this experience

Unfortunately you may be out of luck. You should contact the realtor you purchased the home with and see if they can help. If the seller was aware of electrical issues and did not disclose them properly you may havve some recourse. Did you get a home warranty this would also help you out in this issue.

If you agreed to an "as is" purchase agreement, you accepted full responsibility for the condition of the house the moment your signatures were affixed to the paperwork. It is NEVER wise to purchase such an expensive investment without having the property fully examined prior to purchase by one or more qualified individuals.
Sorry to say, you're on your own on this one.

It sounds as if you are out of luck...but hopefully since you purchased it at a huge discount you will have the money to have it repaired. Electrical problems are very dangerous, please have a licensed electrician give you an estimate.
