when the SwiftBoat Veterans were lionized for questioning Kerry's purple heart? Same deal. Personal attacks for political gain. Why does the party that does it automatically make it right or wrong?

Excellent pt and moveon.org was not wrong.

What makes it even worse is that General Petraeus is an active member right now which means he SHOULD be criticized for the mess in Iraq... he is in charge. Kerry was attacked after serving his time and being wounded TWICE. Only a Republican could find fault in that.

Senate Republicans made an amd last week that simply criticized moveon.org and the Democrats voted for it. When a Democratic amd was proposed that stated what your question says in addition to criticizing moveon.org, the Republicans refused to vote for it and it fell short of the 60 votes required.

My problem with the ad, is that either the General agreed with MoveOn.org or he was lying. The ad left no room for the General to honestly disagree with what MoveOn.org's opinion of the war is. This ad was in essence a hit piece on the General, attempting to force him to use MoveOn's talking points about the war.

Consider too where the funding for MoveOn.org comes from. Everyone on the left likes to criticize people on the right for being bought and paid for by big oil. However MoveOn and a host of other companies are actually funded by George Soros. Therefore his agenda should be analyzed and the purpose and motivation behind the ad should be questioned just as if it was published by a Conservative group against Hillary Clinton.

MoveOn already judged the general before he even reported.

SwiftBoat Vets are the guys who served with Kerry. Yep and Kerry threw away his medals.

Also Kerry testify in Congress of make believe stories about what the vets did in Vietnam.

Kerry called the troops in Iraq terrorists.

Now for the major difference you missed out on.

Kerry wanted the attack ads on him stop and ask Bush to stop just the SwiftBoat not the other attack ads going on.

Another the general was still in uniform and just come back from combat and NEVER in our history have we had ANY in Congress question if they were telling the truth or not.

The general is not running for office he was doing his job that Congress voted for him to do.

Now I hope that makes it clear.

First of all the ads were against a current military officer leading troops in battle unlike a person not on active duty for over thirty years. And second the ads against Kerry were never proven to be false (Kerry never challenged the facts) and he was a political figure running for office while Patraeus is just a military official. You do attack military leaders in the heart of a battle and the democrats know that just they are so attached to the far left of Moveon.org and its venomous leader George Soros.

Didn't your mother ever tell you that when someone calls you a name it still isn't right to call them a name back.

Besides General Petraeus is in Iraq.. fighting the war in Iraq. The people on moveon.org are NOT IN IRAQ....NOT FIGHTING THE WAR IN IRAQ...thus discrediting there knowledge of anything that is actually happening.

I don't know much about the Kerry purple heart issue..but if he earned it then it's wrong to question.. if he didn't... then it should be questioned. But I can assure you that whoever is doing said questioning had better have a clue about what there talking about.

You are accusing the General of lying to America before he speaks that's a strong accusation.

Bush haters tend to be angry at anything that he says even if it makes no sense.

The General was elected by Democrats and Republicans alike, including all the ones running for office right now.. How can any Republican or Democratic or straddle the fence politician know what's occurring on the ground in Iraq better than our own military commanders. In other words it makes no sense that the American media that of course hates Bush, is making accusations about a General long before a report was made because they believe that America MUST lose and pull out. They forget that the freedoms we have are because of our military. I have a lot of military friends and family and they are hurt and frankly outraged by what the media has done to make it seem like they are vicious and kill innocent civilians in the middle of the night in cold blood (John Kerry said that by the way). The military chose to serve, they were not forced. They want to make their country safe and secure so that we can be secure. To think that terrorists will make peace and leave us alone is foolish.

We forgot about September 11. And if anyone believes that Bush is there because of oil that makes no sense. We would've taken over the oil industry by now as we are the strongest military in the world. He has nothing to gain. Plus remember this is a government by the people. In other words he alone cannot act without votes. Don't forget both sides voted for this war.

Bush lied people died?" Well what did he lie about ? The weapons of mass destruction? It turns out that we DID find them in Iraq. We found a substance 100 times more potent than anthrax. Did you hear about it? NOO! But you can read it about it in the military reports which are public knowledge and free to read. Don't bother looking in the Washington Post or New York Times. They want you to keep saying, "Bush lied people died.'

Also a former military commander of Saddam Hussein said in an interview that he saw the weapons of mass destruction with his own eyes. He also said (interview with Sean Hannity by the way) that he was told by Saddam to move them to Iran the moment Bush declared War.

By the way these people want Americans killed, you and me. If this war is not the answer then what is? I see these bumper stickers and no one has any real plan but goes on and on, War is not the answer, Bush lied people died. Yes they did on September 11, 2001 they died due to terrorism. So yes that is true.

I have a friend on his death bed after getting hit by a road side bomb in Iraq that told his family he would do it again if he could. That's bravery.

By accusing General Petraus of lying is accusing our military who fight for us and is no worse than terrorists accusing us.

By the way if you are paying attention, No Republican OR democrat has plans to bring the military home. Not before election time anyway. And I mean a full pull out, so don't set your hopes on it. It will not happen.
You must look for the candidate on either side that cares about America winning and protecting us whatever it takes.

I hope this helps

I think people are supposing their intent. If the intent was to slander and honorable man, that is wrong. If the intent was to irritate the pres that is interesting. if the intent was to get the American people to think, it was an incredibly stupid way to do it. As the mother of a soldier in Iraq I don't need moveon to tell me whats going on over there. I have a much better grasp then they do. If they were needling GWB, good for them, dissent is in our blood. BOTH political parties use these things to further their own agendas. They don't automatically make it right or wrong unless we let them.

Not the same deal. Petraues was appointed his position by his actions alone, he is not running for office. Kerry was, and he fabricated his Vietnam claims. That's serious stuff, pretending to be a war hero. Petraeus isn't pretending to be anything, he is in command of US forces. MoveOn's attack mangled his name in an effort to make a point, it was immature and pointless. It distracted away from the real issue. MoveOn viewed it as a betrayal simply because it contradicted their stance.

Switboat veterans served with Kerry. Moveon,Org never served with the General.

For one, the swift boat vets, had proof and testimony.
Moveon.org did not even have the general's comments to base it on because they were running the ad BEFORE THE GENERAL SPOKE!

diogenese...all of your comment was correct except for 100%. First, the Swift Boat Vets were there AND had evidence. Second, when Moveon.org put that forth, they could not have been right...the general had not even spoken. Third, to say that the conservatives are the loudest in speaking out was fvckin hillarious.

neocon...if you call that article the "exact same thing" you did not read the article.

beachbum...if the attack came before he spoke, it could only have been politically motivated, and have NOTHING to do with finding truth.
