I am a Michigan resident, but I currently reside in New Mexico (due to military). What the hell is going on up there? I haven't lived there since 2004 and all I read is that it is going downhill.....FAST!
I know is that my property tax (Trenton, MI) is already sky high ($3500 per year); I still own a house there. I would love to sell the house, but all I hear is that the market is horrible and it will never sell. So I am going to rent it out instead.
I have heard that Michigan is having a tax raise? On what? Sales or property?
My prayers to everyone in Michigan!

The state did shut down for about 4 hours last night but is up and running today. The tax increases, from what I see so far are sales tax and income tax.
As far as selling homes, almost every block in some areas have at least one house for sale and some block 2 and 3 houses. Many graduating high school students are now attending college in other states because Michigan has the worst economy in the U.S at the moment.
Everyone that can leave the state are leaving so that things will only get worse instead of better until they start making cuts in state salaries and expenses that are taking up so much of the money that would help the state have a balanced budget.
You can go to freep.com and keep up with what is going on or go to newsboy.com and you should be able to find a paper online from the Trenton area.

I really don't think anything will happen. The governor is giving an ultimatum and everyone is using scare tactics. A budget *will* be passed by the deadline.

i wish they would lose their internet,i'm tired of hearing about here by people not providing more info. i would like to know WTH is going on up there too. if the people here are any indication then all i can figure is they only complain without acting
