I would say that most nights after working all day both you and your hubby need a good meal. You can cook,he can cook, both can cook together,it doesn't matter. Why not get a crock pot if you don't have one.it will cook for you while you are at work. There are lots of good recipes for crock pots.I think people eat to much takeout now days.It is so nice to sit down to a real meal with the family.Cooking together is a time to unwind at the end of the day.Talk about the day and just have fun.Take turns cooking for each other,it is nice to have a break.Cooking some meals don't take a lot of time or effort.Look for fast to fix meals.Just some suggestions.

First, let me let you in on a secret. Hungry men, are grumpy. Fat men are happy.
Secondly, cooking a meal for your husband may be best. But you dont need to cook a "real meal" everyday. I would try to work in a "wednesday is sphagetti day" or hambergers or something similarly easy. Just tell him thats what your making, and if he doesnt like it, he can cook, or go hungry. Asking him to cook once or twice a week is certainly fair, maybe let him make the easy stuff, it's still a night off right?
Thirdly... he's doing something for you too right? If the foot massages were coming in on a regular basis, I dont think the question would be being asked. Best to make sure he appreciates what he has.

I used to be married to a man that wanted a three course meal every night and would not eat leftovers. It was difficult because it is hard to cook for two without leftovers. Needless to say, I hated wasting food and gained weight which I have since lost after the divorce!
Anyway, my suggestion is to make meals that last about 2-3 days so you are not spending every evening in the kitchen. For example, spaghetti and meatballs w/garlic bread is easy, lasts about 3 days, and is enjoyed by my man, son, and me. Also, when you are cooking , try to include him and have a glass of wine and chat as he helps with say chopping onions or shredding cheese. It can be quite enjoyable. Good Luck!

I work 5 days a week, and I cook maybe 3 times a week - the rest of the time we're either having leftovers from the day before, eating out, or having something quick like a frozen stir-fry or hamburger helper. There are plenty of easy and fast dishes that don't take much time to make, and are very good. Surf some cooking websites for ideas (epicurious.com, cooks.com) or subscribe to a cooking magazine.

You may want to plan out your meals so that there are leftovers or plan to turn the meal into something else. For example, some times I roast a chicken on Sunday. Throughout the week, I will use the left over chicken in jambalaya or a salad. Also, a crock pot is an excellent investment. You can put a whole meal in there in the morning and its ready when you get home. Plus there's usually food left over for another meal.
Be blessed.

You are not being mean. But it is amazing that you got married and had not solved this problem. There are compromises between a sandwich and a holiday meal. There is a lot of stuff out there frozen and all you do is boil or stir fry. No cutting or measuring etc. And there are some boxed meals that are good. Have him go shopping with you and figure it out together. I like that idea of him cooking too...I do.

Cook two or three meals in one day, and freeze them. Use a crockpot. You can make a roast in the crockpot. There are lots of things you can do for the crockpot. But if you cook and freeze stuff, it is still homemade and then all you have to do is make a salad and bake some potatoes or something.

Why don't you prepare meals on the weekend and freeze them so he can have a home cooked meal every day. I'm a bit old fashioned when it comes to these things. I worked had two teens and an infant and still cooked every day. I think women use working as an excuse not to prepare proper meals. So I think you should cook at least 6 times a week.

Make enough to have left overs the next night.
Make things using the slow cooker, that way when you get home from work it is already done.
Have a certain day for order in/take out food
Ask him to help with cooking/cleaning up after doing it together could make it a little more fun, and less like work
