Joaquin M you just lost your bet. But don't worry I'm not interested :)

Do you think "other countries" should have the right to tell women what we can or can't do with our own bodies?

Sigy (s) question was about abortion Rights globally. Have you ever walked down a street in Mumbai India, or Piopet Cambodia. Have you seen the looks on the faces of the truly hungry, needy throw away children in the hundreds. Have you not seem the millions die (ing) of starvation in Africa on TV. Has anyone ever approached you and offer to sell you a female child.
You know there is a Real World out there where woman do not have control over their own bodies, the millions of young girls/women sold into sexually slavery and their costumers refuse to use condoms. The millions that suffer from incest all over this world . The religions that regulate women as servants to the male. The world is overpopulated in some areas that are not able to feed the population they have.

In your Alice in Wonderland world, you say "abortion is never the answer".

How wrong you are!!!

This country could do quite a bit to prevent abortion if they wouldn't throw out international contraceptive education if an international agency dares to provide abortion counseling or provide abortion services.

I don't understand the right wing obsession with keeping people ignorant about contraception. How does that do anything but encourage abortion? Punishing sexually active people is incredibly stupid public policy. Just say no is for morons, education is the key, not ignorance.

I entirely support women's freedom of choice, even where abortion concerns and all other rights, but personally dislike the idea of having an abortion myself, unless it were necessary. Which is why I suggest sex education and provision of means of protection against unwanted pregnancies and STDs, it would be a better tool to arm women in regards to the health risks associated with unprotected sex and unsafe abortions.
Many leaders of third world countries are too busy selling their own people into the capitalist game, rather than strive to meet the economic and social needs of the people within, and there you have families of seven, eight children (and many more), in many cases, being sold as slaves for work or the sex slavery industry, many others have to resort to unsafe abortions (I'm not including countries in which abortions are obligatory for political and societal purposes).
However, I also think that the issue with global abortion rights extend further than just providing essential tools for women to protect themselves, in my opinion, prevention is the best option...however, many of these screwed up policies have to change as well, so women everywhere would have equal rights, prevent unwanted pregnancies (which will not lead to unsafe abortions) and STDs.

YAWN! ya know im really trying to care darlin..but i just dont...better yet...why not ask for a better way to prevent pregnancy...but hey i guess being responsible ahead of time is just too much of a hassle...
and yeah yeah..rape and all that...i know..horrible things...and yeah sure...in some way i can understand that the woman doesnt wanna carry the child of some ******** that raped her...but hell how is killing the child gonna make you feel any better? how ironic is that?

"well i just got raped...and now im pregnant...so instead of taking my revenge on the slime who did it to me..im gonna kill this here kid inside me instead! yeehaw! "

that sounds dang quirky to me.

and before you even think i dont know what im talking about...i got pregnant when i was 13 from rape. i would have had it...if i had not had a miscarraige...my body wasnt ready to carry a baby to term. i would have most likely given it up for adoption though. at 13 i was not ready to be a mother.

EDIT: if a doctor would ever mention to me to get an abortion for some reason i would literally kick him across the hospital room. or id at least have fun trying.

3 thumbs down....lol. cute. i love it when i piss ppl off. hmmm...well far as im concerned the prochoice, pro abortion punks can kiss my @ss.

First of all, you're charging into this with your Western cultural blinders on. It is now possible to determine the baby's sex early enough in pregnancy to have a sex selective abortion. In India, they abort female babies because providing dowries for daughters is too expensive. In China, they abort female babies because the government says they can only have one child and everybody seems to want a son. Do you think these women want to hear about abortion rights? The vast majority of the non-Western world has enough problems with just basic survival. You'd be far better off concentrating on economic issues first, like helping Third World women start their own businesses.

If abortion is a legal procedure in any country, then it shouldn't matter that it is an abortion - it should only matter that it was a botched procedure resulting in death.

For those people who are getting hung up on the notion of it being an abortion, and the sin of it all - I suggest you lobby your local governmental respresentative and do all you can to have them rendered illegal procedures. But until that happens, you should all be concerned that an individual has entered into a hospital to have a routine, legal procedure, and died as a result. That could have been anyone, and any procedure - tonsilectomy, appendectomy, etc.

Good question.. And I honestly don't know the answer-but..

Some people here are making it seems like it would be safer to go through childbirth than get a legal abortion. Completely wrong, childbirth is dangerous and the risk of death is greater than that of a legal abortion.

These same people that are attempting to force women to spew out babies just for men are the same ones that say abortion and birth control should be illegal. I'm not quite sure if they know that, even if abortion is illegal, women will get them anyway-many drugs are illegal, but people, even teenagers, get them all the time. I'm also not quite sure if they know that illegal abortion is far, far, far more dangerous than a legal one, and that getting a 'back alley' abortion can lead to death by infections, death during the operation, etc. Guess what? This causes more people to die! But they still want abortion to be illegal- they don't mind more people will die because of this. Oh, not at all. They ALSO never seem to mind that many of these mothers that are considering abortion are considering it because she can't take care of the child. They're obsessed about the fetus, but don't care about the child. They preech adoption, but never adopt children themselves. How hypocritical.

Which is why I cringe at the term "pro-life". It sounds more like pro-death, and anti-choice to me.

And abortion is as much of a murder as removing a tumor is. The only human involved is the mother and her family-not counting the parasite living in her womb. A caterpillar isn't a butterfly yet, just as a fetus isn't a human yet.
Just a little rant.

Oh, and I definately agree that birth control needs to be more available. Also, schools need to start teaching sex ed, REAL sex ed. That DOES NOT count shoving abstinence down your throat.

think of this all you people who are anti-abortion, for the girls u get raped do u really wanna look at that kid every day of ur life and remeber how it was concieved-for the guys ur girl/wife gets raped do u really wanna look at the that kid and think aww how cute there goes the son of my girl/wifes rapest,
the answer is no, u dont, even if it is not the kids fault no one wants to be reminded of a situation that is as cruel as rape

how bout this situation u have the baby, but u know u cant take care of it ( i.e to young, not enough cash, bad living conditions), so u people will rather have a kid have a truely crap life, mmm how kind u are,

and for those religous people out there if god really wanted to have the baby come into this world would he have not stopped the abortion,

guys who are against abortion, its simple keep ur ***** in ur pants, if ur so against it then dont have sex
same goes for the girls keeps ur legs shut

here is a solution if the girl doesnt want the baby then why dont u (who ever is against it ) offer to raise and care for the child, u take the child u love it u care for, people are so fast to judge but instead of judging why not get up and help, u people who dont wanna take care of the kid, but wanna voice ur opinions, should reallize u also dont want the kid

some kids are planned good for them others arent good for them to, but u try walk in the pregnant ladys shoes and then pass ur comments u will see her shoes are heavier than u can imagine

Petition that it's a human right to have access to a sterile medical environment and knowledgeable practitioners for any medical procedure.

You should have sterile tools with everything from ear piercings to appendix removal.

For those of you pro-lifers why aren't you upset over the fact that the death toll was effectively doubled due to lack of proper care. Some people aren't able to have children, would you prefer the family kill the child after it were born and actually took its first breath?

Perhaps the question should be, "How can we provide reliable contraception to women globally?" After all, in many countries, shouldn't condoms be used to protect against HIV. I'm more concerned with the 1000s of children born with HIV every year. I believe they outnumber those who die by botched abortions.

So 186 women worldwide die by botched abortions a day? That's nothing compared to the 126,000 babies globally who die each day from abortion.

You know what I'm sick of? I'm sick of all these women who say, "I had to have an abortion because the baby was going to die anyway, I was in danger of my life." Stop acting like that is the only reason women have abortions. Life-saving abortions are less than 6% of the abortions performed. The remainder are about 75% of those who used no contraception at all, and the other 19% are those who used contraception but it failed. Instead of getting all gung-ho about making abortion more available, shouldn't we be making contraception more available. In fact, I endorse free contraception to all females of childbearing capability regardless of income. Overall, there are a large number of individuals (both male and female) who are highly irresponsbile and then want an easy out.
