The wireless internet service is sometimes called cellular internet service because it is broadcast from cellular towers and uses the same network used by cellular voice providers.

This service almost always requires a pcmcia card that is unique to the cellular internet provider. I do not beleive a third party offers such cards. They go in the pcmcia slot of the notebook pc (most pcs have a slot that will take 2 pcmcia cards).

Desktop pcs can connect themselves to cellular internet and need the carrier provided interface. Different carriers offer different specific cards for desk top machines. You are best served by contacting the cellular internet provider.

Remember that these connections suffer from the same problems cellular voice does. You may have regions of good and poor connection even within a house.

I do not know of any cellular internet service that allows use of a router or internet connection sharing which would enable you to feed an entire LAN this way. This may change in the future but not at the present.
