Curious about the tricks of putting street tires on my crf 250, can i just put a set of street tires on the stock rims or would I be better off with a certain size of wheels?

You can find tires without changing rims.
Some sizes are not as popular anymore, but they are still out there. You can find 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21 inches out there. It may take a little searching.

Some may have already answered the same way I will. Your height and weight is not the most important factor. It is your experience level. If you are new to riding, racing, the 250 will be MORE than enough. Now I am a 6 foot even person but I have been riding since I was 4 years old. I have had many different motorcycles and have raced motocross, enduro, cross country, and long trail ride events. For me it would be "the bigger, the better". My next bike will most likely be a 450 or bigger. I would like to get a 650 but most people say that the latest 450's are more advanced than a 650. Granted a 650 has more power than a 450 but it ends up being more unmanageable power than the 450 has. So bottom line is this: What is your experience level? If it is above average to expert...a 250 would not be good enough for you. You will need something larger. Any one of the 450s would be fine for you. Some brands, such as KTM make bikes bigger than 450 but for the most part the modern 450 4-strokes rate the best overall. If your experience level is beginner to above average than a 250 would be just right.

more than likely, you will not be able to find street tires that fit your stock rims... 18/19 rear & 21 front stock, most street tires are 16/17 ... but if you can find the proper diameter to fit the rims, go for it.

Check the Metzler tire website. The ME 880 tires come in a lot of different sizes up to 21". It's a pure street tire. I had them in 15" & 19" on my last bike before I sold it. 1,500 miles on them & they looked new.

I doubt you'd be able to use the stock front wheel. If you're going for the motard look, you'll have to get a 16" front wheel and lowering links for the rear. You can get a hoop to lace onto the stock hub with the correct length spokes
