I lost 20 pounds after the ordeal of kidney surgery. it took only a couple of weeks. I soon gained it back and more when my nephrologist put me on heavy doses of steroids to build me up. As for losing weight quickly, I signed up for a weightlifting contest in a certain weight class. On the day of the contest, I was about 7 lbs. over the limit. I had a couple of hours before my class competed, and I weighed in about 2 lbs. under the limit, so I lost 9 lbs. in 2 or 3 hours. I kept it off for a while, because i competed in other contests

5 kilos. I was posted to a place where it reached 46 degrees centigrade that summer and I was 60 kgs from 65. Then for four years I kept it around 65 to 68. Now I am gross, till 75 or so.

I lost 112lbs total, and did end up gaining back 25lbs, and am about halfway losing that 25 lbs again.
For before/after pics as proof, go to my profile page, and click on the flickr photos link.
It took me a little over a year, no surgery at all, no diet pills at all-just watching how much I ate and exercising, to lose that.

37 lb. It took me almost a year because the last five pounds were impossible. I've kept most of it off. I don't want to get to 116 lb. again anyway but I would like to lose about five pounds.

45 pounds in two months, by actually getting off a low-fat diet. 5 years later it's still gone! Oh, and walking about 2 miles a day.
