So I called back, a total of three times. At all these times the lady I needed to speak to was busy. The last time I left a message with someone, they said she'd call back shortly. it was 1 in the afternoon when I left the message, now it is the 10:30 the following morning. Should I wait, call back, put in another application...? This is really stressing me out! I need the job :(

Back off. The interviewer is already hammered. Don't make it worse than it already is, and don't appear desperate. Even if you are.

The woman that you need to speak to probably is very busy, so if your heart is set on this particular job, I would put on my good clothes (not dressy for a grocery store, but clean and neat), and go by the store and ask to speak with her. Pick a time when it is not busy (anyone that answers the phone can probably tell you that, it varies by location) and go by and pay a visit.

If you still can not see her, be very polite and have a nice letter to leave (preferably printed out, in correct format and with correct spelling). Something along the lines of "I left my application here and received a phone call, so I wanted to come by and let you know that I am very interested." You may want to include some information they may not have asked on the application -- such as you are available to work any hours, any personal experience that may not be asked on the application such as volunteer work that shows you can work with people, and that you have reliable transportation. If you do get a chance to talk to her, you can impress her with your preparedness. If she does not have time to talk to you still, give her the letter. Then you know she is getting the message.

Don't forget, be very polite! Grocery stores are customer service driven.

Nothing. My local grocery store is near a pool and in the summer it's full of people in bathing suits. Mainly buying food because pool concession stands are ridiculously over priced

If you need the job, show up and ask to speak with her. When she comes out tell her that you realized she was busy so you wanted to stop by and let her know you are available to work and take the load off if needed.

Put in another call. Since you are returning their message, they probably would not see that as being too pushy. If that doesn't work, try dropping by in person.
