I recently traded my DS in for a Lite. The differences are great. The lite has a better lighting and sound. Its lighter to hold and smaller. It is also a lot more comfortable to hold that the regular DS is.
The only bad thing, I thought, is that they don't use the same charger so if trade your old DS in for a new Lite, you will most likely have to buy a charger for it.

DS lite is far better than the DS. The DS lite has better lighting, is lighter and just plain looks better. It's also much more comfortable to hold.
I suggest the lite. By far.

The lite is smaller. That's pretty much all that's different.

one gives more light then the other.
