3 classes of people are identified:

1. Those who understand the messages of the sages literally...and accept the teachings without question.

2. Those who understand the teachings literally...but reject them

3. Those (very few) who can glean a deeper meaning from hidden riddles and parables in the teachings. The wise are truly rare.
