Almost right. The math is correct, but since there isn't a year 0 (zero), you should deduct 1 from the total. Hence:

55
+ 135
= 190
- 1 (year 0)
= 189 years

55 +135 = 190 years.

you can think of it as 55 years BEFORE and then 135 years AFTER. That would = 55 +135 and = 190 years. Hope that helps!

*edit* ed you were close, there is no year zero, but you count from 55 - 1, including the year 55 and the year 1, which is 55 years, then from 1 to 135 (including both years) which is 135 years (55 + 135 = 190) that is not including a year zero. there is no subtraction! :)

189 years. There being no year 0 in either AD or BC, it is 1 year from 1 BC to 1 AD. This should immediately suggest the general rule.

edusouza is on the right track but omitted that BC too starts (or ends depending on what way you look at it) with a 1.
There for new years eve 1BC turned into new years day 1AD, there for I assume deducting two would be the way to count it, so 188 years.

I believe Jesus died at 32 therefore 55+135+32=
