There may be times in life when you encounter negative personalities, people who are angry or demeaning or bring everyone around them down with their pessimistic views. These kinds of people can be easy to identify because their behavior is so blatant and aggressive that they may not try to hide their unpleasantness. But there are also people you meet who are impressive in their positivity and outlook, and possess inspirational characteristics. That people be themselves instead of worrying what other people say. HONESTY : An honest person values integrity and will strive to tell the truth even if it means admitting something about himself that isn't pleasant. The reason you admire an honest person is because he tells you what he believes and not what you want to hear. An honest person is realistic about his strengths and flaws and acknowledges the areas in which he needs to improve. He will try to do what's right instead of what is convenient, and he expects you to treat him with the same degree of honesty that he demonstrates to you. Benevolent : A person does not have to be wealthy to be benevolent, a quality characterized by a willingness to give freely of your time, talent and financial resources. A benevolent person is admirable because he wants to do good things for the sake of helping others and not because of how his deeds will reflect on him. Observing him do things for both strangers and friends can motivate you to get involved in helping others to try to make a difference. Whether it's volunteering at a church food pantry or visiting the elderly in nursing homes, doing something to improve another person's life can be fulfilling. Responsible : A responsible person is committed to her duties, whether it be as a parent, spouse, sibling, friend, volunteer or citizen. He/She also takes ownership of her behavior and accepts responsibility when he/she does something wrong. He/She makes a decision only after reviewing all sides of an issue to determine how his/her decision will affect other people. He/She is conscientious about showing up to work on time and performing above standard. If a task is difficult, he/she perseveres and completes it through hard work and dedication, instead of giving up or asking someone else to take over. A responsible person can help you become more mature and committed to your duties. Tolerant : A tolerant person is admirable because he is able to accept your oddities and personality quirks that others might find off-putting or irritating. Tolerance allows a person to understand that people are different and that those differences make the world interesting and should not become a source of derision or rejection. A tolerant person is open-minded and will listen to a point of view contrary to his own because he's respectful of a variety of opinions and genuinely wants to hear how other people think. Intolerant people want everyone to act and think as they do, but tolerant people teach you to be inclusive and to embrace the differences that make people unique.
