I just know Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves qualify. The movie's theme alone (Everything I do, I do it for you) is so powerful and romantic.

Tristan & Isolde is quite hot, but I don't believe they're in love, only in crazy-wild lust. Dangerous Beauty is *very* good, but is basically high-budget softcore with a great love story. This is totally an 80's movie, but has Matthew Broderick in a really strange role-- Ladyhawke Queen Margot is in French, is very violent and sexual, but the love story is incredible and heartbreaking. The Heart of Me is historical and the love is intense and tragic. The BBC miniseries version of the recent novel "North & South" with Richard Armitage is fantastic.

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. But not the new one with Keira Knightley. The older one with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle is my favorite.

All the Jane Austin films are awesome romantic PERIOD films. I love such films so much that it is hard to choose just one!

I will take Titanic, but I love them all.
