Yes, they do communicate with each other. Dog's have all kinds of different barks. If you learn them you can tell what he is barking about. Mine has one for "someone is at the door", one for "someone is walking by the yard" and one for "that was fun, do it again". Cows also have different sounds for different things. One calls their calf to their side, one is a warning to get out of the way and bulls have a distinctive bellow that tells other bulls how tough he is. Horses have a nicker that calls her colt, a nicker that says I'm glad to see you or where's my food and a high pitched squeal that says I'm going to kick your head off if you don't get away from me. If you will really spend time with animals you will see that they are a whole lot smarter than we give them credit for and they do, indeed, communicate with each other.

Yes, but they may be filtering it for importance just as we do. Sometimes a dog barking has significance for us, sometimes we hardly notice it. It's just the same for the cow or dog. All mammals are open to danger signals meaning "stay away." I don't think a dog and a cow would be having a conversation though.

Yes animals do communicate though in very limited "words." Dogs can have the IQ of 15 or 20 in human terms, about where a person with severe mental retardation functions.

I always wondered that... To many kid's movies on my part (Oh hell yeah!)

Anyway I don't really think they do. Frankly I can't even rationalize how they could be. Animals communicate with smells, actions, and attitude. I don't think there is an acual animal talk.

But then again if I bark at my dog it usually starts barking back... Good lawd... Who knows what I could be saying...

I think the barking or whatever is probably like baby speak, they are trying to say "i want some food" or "damn, thats one sexy leg" but it just comes out woofwooofowoofowofowo and because we have a higher IQ we can learn to communicate properly.
So....
no, they aren't communicating, but I think they can speak, they're just too stupid to learn and make a language.

Yes, it they can communicate. If you notice the sounds- there is a difference if they are in heat! Take care and have a good day.
