I want to become a doctor, and I was wondering what the fastest way to do that would be? I heard that Med. schools in the Caribbean are shorter and cheaper, some people say that you need 2 -3 years of university before you can go. But other people say there’s a way to get into Med. School Straight out of High School.

Numerous medical schools in the Caribbean offer Pre-Med programs and accelerated Basic Science programs (Basic Science is the first 2 years of all med schools and in the US/Canada, they are 2 calendar years in length while in the Caribbean they are generally 16 months in length due to the schools not breaking for summer and religious holidays).

You do have to be careful about which offshore school you attend. Several are highly respected and their graduates can be licensed in almost all 50 states while graduates from some schools are having difficulty with various state medical boards. You can visit http://www.valuemd.com/ and learn which schools are which in very short order.

If you are an excellent student, you may be accepted into a six year program here in the US. Here's a link to a list of the schools that offer this program: http://services.aamc.org/currdir/section3/degree2.cfm?data=yes&program=bsmd

try getting into a program provided by many universities that has gaurenteed acceptace into a med school and possible cut on years...thats in america...(these programs are really tough to get into though) i have also heard about the caribbean thing and it does work out for most ppl. if u wanna go straight into med school then u'd have to go out of country (assuming ur in USA), there's alot more shortcut opportunites, just make sure its a program thats certified by ur home-country, otherwise u'll have to go thru alot of tests to practice back home.

advice: make sure this is what u wanna do, research, cuz its gonna be really hard to turn back once ur in a program.
good luck ;)

There is NO shortcut. Be very careful about these out of the country [USA] medical school. If you go to one of these bargain basement med. schools and graduate, the quality of your education may be so lacking that for purposes that medical diploma isn't worth using as toilet paper.
