Yes, I think they'll repeat, but it won't be easy. The Mavericks are tough and pissed, but the Spurs have had their number in the past. Bowen does a great job on Dirk, and last year they did a great job keeping him off the high post, where he can be so effective. The Suns are always a threat, with Nash and Amare and the shooters they have, but if they don't learn how to play defense, Timmy, Manu, and Tony will carve them up yet again---Marion or not. Houston is actually going to be a serious threat, and could be better than both Dallas and Phoenix if they can keep Tmac and Yao on the floor.
In the end though I think you've got to say the Spurs are the favorites. Duncan is unstoppable in the post and forces teams to double and triple him, leaving open shots and open lanes for Manu, Tony, Barry, Finley, and Bruce. They're just built so well. Great defense, efficient offense. They're said to be primarily a defensive team, but I believe their offense is as good as anyone's. I'm not sure about Tiago or Giorgos, but the Spurs always seem to do an incredible job scouting overseas---Parker and Manu, two of the best guards in the NBA, both were 2nd round picks relatively unnoticed by other teams. Oberto was an excellent add last year and I can only assume these guys will be as well. (On a side note, I'm really hoping they trade or sign Kirilenko, as I think he would be a perfect fit for them, as Bowen ages and has to play less.)
The Spurs are the best in the league and should win another ring or three before Tim retires. 5 out of 10, maybe 6 out of 12, and the Spurs will go down as one of the great dynasties in the history of sports. Duncan is one of the best of all-time and Ginobili is one of the most underrated players in the NBA.

The Spurs shouldn't have been there last year. Robert Horry's cheap shot on Steve Nash helped get Stoudamire suspended for game 5 in Phoenix which San Antonio won by 3 points & if Stoudamire would have played the Suns would have won. The Western Conference finals this year will be the Phoenix Suns & the Dallas Mavericks. No Spurs!!!

Spurs will be Spurs. They will defend and have good posses ions. But they also are a year older. They will have 50+ wins no doubt. But teams have also gotten better. Spurs will have their hands full this season. Its never easy to repeat.

they have a better chance than anybody because they keep their core intact without any offseason distractions and their chemestry is unmatched. not to mention duncan is going to be duncan, manu has another year of experience, parker was ranked in the top five for pgs last year and will be better this year, oberto was a beast on the offensive boards and probably will improve.bowen didnt seem to be slowing down last year and if he does they have a spark plug in udoku.and their good luck charm robert horry is still hanging around.

They have a good chance but the West is very tough. I like the addition of Udoka. Splitter is staying in Europe this season and Williams will probably play in the D league

Spurs will be good, but probably wont repeat...its just too tough.
My pick is the BULLS, with Deng (who keeps getting better) Gordon, Kirk, Wallace, Noah, Noc and Tyrus...they will be real good for a while.
