Playing video seems to be putting a strain on your system for some reason. Normally this alone shouldn't cause your PC to reset, but it is possible that you have other programs (maybe even spyware or viruses) running in the background that are eating up all your system resources to begin with, and that on top of running video could be causing your PC to run slow and crash. Just to be safe, scan your system and remove any spyware/viruses that is found.
If the problem still occurs then check to see if there is any dust clogged in your fans/vents on your laptop. It could just need cleaning so that air can circulate properly and prevent overheating.
Also, most PCs have a built in protection feature to shut down when it reaches a certain temperature to prevent overheating. You can probably change lower the temp sensitivity in your BIOS, but if you suspect it is truly overheating or being caused by failing hardware, then you might want to get it serviced.

Is your laptop over heating? When you laptop shuts off is it really warm. It could be a video card problem I would think. This also might be a drivers issue. You can go to dells website and search driver or us this link right here http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?s=dhs&cs=19
I would first see if there are any drivers updates you are missing and then proceed to re-install the video card drivers. If that fails I would probably contact dell if the laptop is still under warranty.

Ouch, how old is the computer? How much memory do you have? Why type of processor, etc. Give us some more info.
My computer was very slow, it had no memory, and little space. Eventually I guess I overdid it because my hard drive finally crashed. It would do the same thing you are saying... or maybe it the batteries. Who knows.
