Quick answer: Get rid of all the liquor. Sadly, it may not be this easy. There's different factors to contemplate. For example, is he violent? If he is, maybe you should just leave because it isn't safe to stay. If he isn't, you may have to file for either a separation or divorce and have him served. You can request in the filing that he not be allowed on the premises until the issue is resolved via the legal system.

Move his alcohol to a tent in the backyard.

You can't reason with the irrational and if you have decided to separate, then leave.

If his drinking causes enough problems for you to attribute the deterioration of your relationship on alcoholism, then you should probably do anything to put space between you and him immediately.

There's no law that states 'because your husband is drinking he must be the one to leave the house'. If you REALLY need him gone and you have nowhere else to go then, provided assault actually happens call the Police. Otherwise, leave.

The best thing you can do is 1) talk to your husband, 2) talk to a lawyer.

If he is prone to violence when he drinks then you get a restraining order and have him removed from the house by the police. The proccess is not hard to do. The police department can help you get the forms filed with the courts. If he is not violent or threatening when he drinks then you may have to move out and file for divorce. Either way, talk to a lawyer to find out the laws in your area. Many will do a free consultation. Good luck.

If you've tried before then you know what all the games are he'll play to get you to let him stay. I suggest first off knowing what games to expect and understanding them thoroughly. Google anything that has to do with chemical dependancy, co-dependancy, or alcoholism so you have something to bring to the table. I looked up co-dependancy and since then I've gotten my husband to stop drinking all together. Good luck with what ever you do, I know it's hard but you can do it.

make plans ahead of time and be ready for your shot. Pack his stuff and put it outside. change the locks to the house and lock the windows etc. Get a seperate bank account if you do not have one and take the money out of the joint account.

Tell him that it is over and that you want him to get out. He will object and you just say that it is over and leave it alone. Next time he leaves the house put outall his stuff and call the alerted locksmith. By time he gets back he is out. Do not open the door or let him back in. He'll get the message.
