47 runs in 8 overs and no wickets, plus out for a golden Duck? His bowling has been atrocious, not just against Sri Lanka today. In the sixth ODI against India, with India needing over six runs an over, he managed almost single handedly to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory giving away nearly 10 runs an over with no wickets. He gave away 24 more runs than both Mascarenhas and Panesar despite tham bowling more overs than him (they also took wickets).

Is it time to drop Anderson from the ODI team and bring up a youngster from the counties of England A team?

May be you are right! It is always frustrating that when a bowler has been in the international arena for sometime, but doesnt give consistent performances. It is even more annoying when the econ rate is very high. The classical example is Ajit Agarkar of India who has been in the international arena for years, and has never earned a fame of a strike bowler. Youngsters like RP Singh and Sreesanth look to be better bowlers than him. Agarkar is a run machine. He is consistently over 6 RPO in ODIs.

Yes! Bowlers like Aggy and Andy should give way for other bowlers. Having said that, we need to blame the selectors who persist with them. The players are not gonna say "Iam performing badly. I wanna give way to another player". Its the selectors who need to take the initiative!

There are always bright youngsters around who seem to be invisible for the selectors!

No No... Cool...

Im a Lankan, I live somewhere close to the place where Eng & Sl played today, & ive also played couple of District match there... So from my self experience il tell you...

The Rangiri Stadium "Dambulla" pitch isnt that good, its very hard & rough... The side which wins the toss have more chances to win, cus in the first innings the pitch belongs to the batsman & its easy to get runs from pace bowlers in the second innings its easy for the pace bolwers to get wickets, but in both the innings the ball spins well... & its also very breezy there, its somewhere around the sea...

How much ever you try to swing the ball it never swings properly, Even for Chaminda Vaas his deliveries dint get swing properly... Anderson did a great job, it was his first time on that pitch too, so maybe the next time he will try some other styles of bowling... It wasnt their day... he tried his level best today but it dint work... Maybe next time these fast bowlers from both the teams would change their bowling styles... Hope so...

The highest score made in that ground so far is 292-9 by some school team in Srilanka.

So you cannot blame the bowlers or the team guys for losing the match, in Rangiri Stadium the pitch decides the winners.

The next 2 matches are going to be played in the same Rangiri Stadium at Dambulla so it is also going to be the same way, dont get pissed at our woderfull players who put their 100% effort and play for our country, appreciate them whatever it is.
And the 3rd & 5th ODI will definielty be a nail bitting match cus its gonna be played at the Premadasa Stadium Colomob the Capital of SL it's the best pitch ive ever seen in Srilanka... Its good for Hitters & for Fast bowlers...

So now what you say, still should Anderson be dropped???
But i dont know much about his previous records...

Edit-
And i agree you cus most of the players in the England team does not play well like before, & ive asked a question about it too...
