My fiance, who is Muslim, and I were discussing why they eat only with their right hand. It's because they clean themselves with their left hand after using the toilet. I told him that I thought most Americans used their right hands as that is how we were taught. Of course this peaked my curiousity as to whether I was correct or not and then wondered it it had anything to do with the largest percentage of people being right handed. So please appease my curiosity. Do you wipe with your right or left hand and is this because you were taught that way or because that is your dominant hand.

Yes they do wash their hands, but they seldom use toilet paper. They use water by splashing it on the area and cleaning with their hand, then washing both. Believe it or not they are obsessed with cleanliness.

Ok I asked my fiance Muslim Morrocan and he said that it's preferred that you eat with the right hand. He said that you can eat with the left though. There is not a law.
However, when you wash your body you use the left hand to wash the right side of the body and use the right hand to wash the left side. Yes, they are obsessed with clean!

When I was learning how to write I used the hand that I was comfortable with and it was my right and I wipe with the right and wash my hands after using the bathroom unlike most people. And I am American but I don't think that matters.

I think most people do it with their dominant hand because it's easier when you are learning as a kid. I'm mexican and a also use my right hand because that way you can hit the target without obstacles

Wow that's interesting.....but kinda crazy. I'm right handed and that's the hand i use for most everything...but I wash BOTH of my hands. Do they not wash the left hand?

i tend to use loo roll myself.lol.no i use my right hand but always wash after.so it doesn't really matter which hand as long as you wash them,does it?
