Some religious orgnaizations, Cathlic in particular, feel their health insurance plans should not cover the cost of contraception or other related serivces for women because this is against their doctorine. Even though they higher (supposedly) persons of all or no faiths. I feel this is a gross voilation of women's rights. Opinions?

Try, if you would to see it from a human rights point of view. I wonder if these same organizations offer paid maternity leave? I'm guessing not all.

Kind of screwy, isn't it? I'm willing to bet most (if not all) Catholic organizations have health insurance plans that cover pre-natal care of a mother and the costs of childbirth...

I'm betting organizations like this can get away with it because of separation of church and state. They may be required to tell people up-front about such restrictions, but they could easily say "Hey, this is our belief, and since we're providing health insurance to our employees -- something that we are not required by law to do -- then we can place restrictions on what our plans will cover based on our religious doctrine." The argument there is that a woman who works for such an organization has a choice to (a) follow their doctrine and not use birth control, (b) pay for birth control out of her own pocket, or (c) work elsewhere.

P.S.: I work for the Federal Government, and my health insurance plan doesn't cover contraception or birth control or tubal ligation or vasectomy.

Some believe in thou shall not kill, and that abortion is killing. Then further since the question of when does life begin comes up, some same when first breath is taken, some say a contraception. Therefore if you block contraception you are committing murder. This can even be used for sin of masturbation, spilling seeds on the ground....

Many _will_cover birth control. They just don't cover every kind of birth control. When I was younger, _no_ companies paid for it; we all paid for our own.

I don't think it's a violation of rights at all. I don't think any organization or government should subsidize the individual. It is the individual's responsibility to take care of themselves.

The catholic religion has rights too. One is they are free to believe what ever they want. If you dont like it, dont get their health insurance.
