Not everything has a beginning or end is the simple answer. No one contends that there was nothing, and then there was something. Only theists however claim that something can come from nothing (although it requires the actions of some deity to achieve). So, if god exists, god is eternal and didn't come from anywhere. That's a very big "if" though.
