No one person is to blame. They win as a team they lose as a team. This team is just not as good as everyone thinks or at least this year anyways. I think they need more role players, team players you know and obviously they need to get younger in the pitching department. A late season collapse means that these guys may have been tired. I would go younger. Easier said then done. Teams are always trying to bring in veterans with this fix it mentality, but this is not always the best thing. You need to keep developing players through your farm system, keep bringing these guys up and seeing what they can do. I would try to get Johan Santana, I am sure he is available because I know he is set to make a lot of money and I don't think the Twins have it.

Personally they could not defeat the Phillies when they need to and I believe their pitching staff was plainly worn out . Their lack of clutch hitting including yesterday was another cause.
I would blame the whole team effort but the manager did pick the men to play but he could not pitch ,hit, throw and run so the manager cannot be solely responsible. As for blaming the fans that is ignorance that needs no explanation.

General manager Omar Minaya, for not realizing that the Mets' trademark -- when they're good, that is -- is pitching, and leaving the rotation either too old or too young, and leaving the bullpen so bad as to make the Yankee bullpen look perfect. Don't blame Willie Randolph: As an old-time manager said, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken (droppings).

The players themselves. They played like they just didn't want to go to the playoffs, they didn't seem to try. So now they are out as a result of that.

...everyone in the organization from top to bottom....but, mostly, Willie Randolph. We need someone who's fiery and like Lou Pinella or Bobby Valentine.

It looks like maybe the paychecks bounced, or you could look toward the pitching staff.
