While Pedro de la Rosa is McLaren's third driver this year, and while he did sub in for Montoya last year, we are unlikely to see him in the McLaren seat that will almost certainly be vacated by Fernando Alonso.

I would feel it a safe wager that if (oh, come on, when) Alonso leaves McLaren we will see either Nico Rosberg or Jenson Button in the team. Although, either of them could give Lewis Hamilton a run for it in 2008, and I'd guess that's not what Lewis wants with his shiny new championship (which, lets face it, he is pretty sure of now) and his even shinier $110 million contract for the next five years.

The silly season is going to get pretty interesting in the next few weeks.

Another option at McLaren, if they want a lesser driver to pair up with Alonso could be any of:

Ant Davidson - good racer, unlikely to challenge Hamilton
Timo Glock - newly crowned GP2 champ who was an also ran last time he was in F1
Bruno Senna - not really ready for the move to F1 yet, but perhaps a sentimental fav at McLaren and also sponsored in GP2 by Santander (although the question is does a Spanish bank stay on with a team that may have mistreated the Spanish champion driver?)
Ralf Schumacher - announced he's done at Toyota this week and while he's an also ran, he might yet have some spark left in him to support Hamilton in a run for two titles in a row.
Tonio Liuzzi - no threat there, yet capable of putting in good supporting results I expect

There's a few options at least ;)

Pedro de la Rosa is McLaren's third driver. I think he might replace Alonso as Hamilton's teammate if Alonso indeed does go back to Flavio and Renault. If that does happen then he will have a Spanish teammate for the second straight year. I find that quite funny.

Pedro DeLa Rosa, but he won't be driving for McLaren. he has been linked to Prodrive who in effect are the McLaren B team.

Pedro de la Rosa may become Hamilton's team mate if Alonzo goes back to Renault.
