Strippers cam make 500 to several thousand dollars a week, in less than 40 hours, with no skills other than making a man pay dearly for their attention. Beyond that, they drink and dance, and basically party.
The drug part only comes in because you have a girl working 20 or 30 hours a week, making five grand or more a month.
Just like NFL players, if you take a person with low or little education, and put them in a situation where they can't even picture ever being hungry again (other than out of self-neglect) you are going to get your share of wash outs.
The smart strippers actually are working their way through school, or funding their real estate job, or kicking off some other entrepreneurial endeavor. Many go on to open their own clubs.
After making 200 to 500 bucks in four or five hours, on your first night, how could a girl possibly go back to $6.50 an hour? It would be like Cinderella going back to sweeping fireplaces and dressing her sisters because palace life was too glamorous. Just don't make sense.

HAW! most of you are WRONG!! I said MOST.
I used to b a stripper.
It Is a Real Job!
I can't say anything about durg addicts;
never heard of it b4.
I am not or EVER was a drug addict!
except for cigarettes.
In any bar, on any given night,
you could find:
a drug addict, cocaine, pills,
whatever her poison of choice
may be, they don't usually last,
their drugs are the most important thing in their life,
but "mostly it's alcohol !!"
an alcoholic,
a student,
a mom, lots of these in there
a prostitute,
a loose woman,
a straight-edged woman,
a married woman,
single women,
bi-sexual women, lots of these
heterosexual women, lots of these,
violent women, some men like these
abused women.
It is 1 of the hardest jobs,
some of you would Never know about.
Give 7-12 hours in a pair of heels,
4-6 days a week,
and SEE how ur feet, legs feel ?!?
How would YOU like to work and Not get paid?
Most strippers work on TIPS ONLY!
A shift pay is available "@ some bars," its 10.00
You deal, w/ lonely, sad, depressed, unsatisfied men,
And drunkards too*.
Some r dr's., lawyers, firemen,
business owners, chiropractic dr's.,
military men (as in the Pentagon),
airline pilots, cops, yes, cops, etc...
Strippers PAY to work there,
so the 1st "certain amount" of $$ u make,
isn't even yours, to take home!
It varies by bar.
The $ spent on outfits, is Outrageous!!!
Then, some shmuck!
comes along and steals part or all of it.
Make-up, shoes, hair, $$$,$$$,$$$.
And No one can say being a stripper
makes u a bad or unfit parent.
I already went to court on that 1...
a person cannot say that your job
makes u a bad or unfit parent,
if that were the case,
then every cop & firefighter is also,
a bad or unfit parent,
cuz Everyday that that parent goes to work,
u r putting ur child(ren) @ risk of being an orphan.
My ex didn't pay the court ordered,
what we agreed upon, due child support.
They still need to live in a home,
eat, have T.P. in the bthrm., etc...
We** had a babysitter that abused 1 of our kids,
so 1 of us had to be home w/ the kids,
at all times. I went to work @ night.
As a dancer, not a stripper.
Every1 that saw me dance, said
"go nude, u'll make more $$."
Eventually, I tried it.
And eventually, I retired.
I worked, I fed my family, paid my bills,
I went home to my family.
* not all the men that come in the bar
are or are not 1 or a combo of these things.
** I eventually, remarried.
EDIT: And to the woman who said, what woman in her sober mind would do this; That Would Be ME, Lady.
I could dance circles around you, w/ a broken leg, a twisted back, and 1 arm tied behind my back, yeah....

There are some that are on drugs... there are some who are paying for college or for a child where the father is a dead beat dad... there are some who enjoy what they do. There are millions of reasons why someone would go into this industry... and each stripper has his/her own story. Although I would never take my clothes off for money... I believe that there are enough good, honest people working in the industry that you are makeing a generalization with out realizeing that you are being racist towards them. Please re-think your question and consider the reasons why someone may do this other than drug use. Good luck.

Some may be addicts; some may enjoy the attention; some may do it because they don't have a lot of job skills and this is the only thing they can do to make enough money to survive. The average stripper makes a lot more than the average Qwickie Mart clerk. I guess I wouldn't judge them until I knew their circumstances.

Many strippers do turn out to also be drug addicts, because a stripper is a job that's at the end of the line. It's not a very good one, it's obviously very dirty and has a bad reputation as a job. Anyway, as a strippers job is at the end of the line, doing drugs is also at the end of the line. Drugs and stripping go hand and hand in eachother.
Another reason may be because strippers often find themselves depressed and worthless, as they are handing themselves to men for money. They may believe that drugs may temporarily (or in some cases, permanately) solve that problem. It doesn't.

Not all strippers are drug addicts! They just simply find it easier to make money by getting their kit off for money rather than getting a normal job as with stripping it pays considerably more money and if you have a family to support it seems the obvious choice!!If i had the figure i would be a stripper(btw not a drug addict).
prostitution on the other hand is totally different!they are violating themselves!

No, in my experience, they're not. At the main club I worked at, I can think of 2 girls I ever worked with who were actually drug addicts. But if it makes you feel better to find a segment of the population to look down upon, then by all means go for it.

Yup,can't hustle worth a dime because clubs are filled with hookers and not dancers. The industry of fantasy has become the industry of whore houses and nope, guys no longer care for talent, so sad :(

that's a very vague assumption. Not everyone has such opportunities to work a cooperate job in a cubicle! You never know the reason why someone does something, so don't judge.
