not evolutiontary insticnt. What ELSE would you think to do with an unopened jar is someone handed it to you? And to see what's IN the jar, you must open it. Try your experiment on women to test your theory. I would assume you needed help opening the jar and open it for you.

If someone at work handed me a jar and said nothing I would smash the jar and then slap that person across the face.

Well it's only natural that one will assume that's why they are handing the jar, so it's the fact we assume things.
