I read that book and was fascinated by how it showed that we were. So, we are much closer than any of us realized we were!

Communications being what they are now, 6 or less seems probable to me.
I heard of a test conducted in the 70s, which came up with 7 or 9 – I forgot which. The researchers had supposed it to be 14 or so. In that test, people were given letters addressed to someone in a distant city. They could send the letter only to people they knew and that knew them.
For example, I am in Phoenix. I would be given a name in Boston – Joe Bttlsxbk. I don’t know anyone east of Cincinnati, so I would send it to him or her. They might know someone in or near Boston – and, so on.
There are a number of celebrities that I am only one person away from. I recently met a cousin of Demi Moore, for example. I’m only two people away from Prez Bush – who woulda thought?
We all have hundreds of acquaintances and each of them has hundreds.

There is nothing to it, if you just know two people and they know a couple and so on, you quickly get up to the rest of the world. I don't see any significants in that, like, are we all swimming in the same water, or are we all breathing at least one atom of Leonardo Da Vinci and Hitler in and out, once a day.

Yes, I do. I see it all the time through email. I'll get a joke or something from a friend and three or four days later I will get the same joke from an out of state friend, even though I haven't forwarded it to anyone myself...

Are you speaking mathematical? Yes, there's plenty of proofs. Pick anyone in the world and do your research.
