Hello all, I have a question.

I’ve decided to take a 4 year Physician Assistant program for my major in college, and I’m thinking of taking it and then going into medical school where then I would train to become a surgeon. Will this work out or will I have to take another major for becoming a surgeon.

I think your physician assistant program would be fine. Make high grades, and score well on the MCAT. You should have a reasonable chance of entry into med school.

Be careful--double check that any of the life science courses you will take in a PA program will satisfy the prereqs for med school. Most do not. The only exceptions I have encountered are the schools that have PA programs and med schools and then pre-med and PA students usually are taking the same courses.

I was a PA who went to med school.

As long as you take all the undergraduate classes that Premed majors take, you should be OK. Well -- that assumes you do well in those classes.
