Know anything about disk drives ?

Hi there, the disk drive on my Sony laptop doesn't seem to work. Apart from the sony shop, are there any suggestions to where I could either buy a replacement one or fix it?

Well you didnt state what it was doing but you could try to erase it,partition it,and reformat,then reinstall the o/s or these days it cheap enough to buy a nice size replacement hard drive cheap.you can try websites like
Newegg.com
or stores like compusa specializing in nothing but Computer supplies.

Doesn't have to be a Sony shop; laptop hard drives are a standard. Most any reputable computer shop can fix this. Whether or not the data on the drive is recoverable is unknown at this point.

I had a similar problem with an older Dell laptop. Dell wanted $56 for a "rebuilt" and $80 for a new one.

I "Googled" the model number of the replacement drive and found on on Ebay from the following company for only $17. This outfit was great and they seem to have replacement parts for all sorts of laptops.

Take your laptop and take it to a laptop shop and say them is this a laptop or a piece of junk. They'll replace it for free and you can pick any laptop you want.

its going to be the belt that drives the unit you need to send it off or contact sony my friend had the same problem

if its under warrenty send it off, i too have a sony vaio, otherwise download the drivers just search it on google
