I want to mail some balloons filled with helium in a big box. So when the box is opened the balloons come out. Will the balloons deflate before they get there? Only serious answers please. Its for my nephew's b-day.

It looks like the ones in the stores stay up for a few days. Check with them as they have ones that are sealed differently than you would and would have different sayings on them. I would say the regular ballons would not have a chance and what would keep the box from floating away which ever way you do it? I am not trying to be funny but you will have to think about putting excess weight in them to keep that from happening.

Balloons By Mail

I used to deliver balloons, which generally stayed pretty bouyant for several days. Really hot, humid days would cause them to deflate much more rapidly. If you're going to mail them yourself I would advise sending them Next Day Delivery. I would think the weight of the box would be sufficient to keep it from becoming airborne, but if you're planning on attaching them to a stuffed animal or something that should do the trick. It's a great idea, I'm sure he'll be thrilled!

Mylar balloons will stay inflated. They may shrink somewhat in very cold temperatures, but will expand to full size in the warmer inside temperatures. If the balloons are traveling by air in the cargo section of a plane, I don't know if they would survive.Do you know of a florist in the area where your nephew lives, that also sells balloons. You could call them and charge an order. They will deliver the boxed balloons for you. When I worked as a florist, we used to do this all the time. We usually only did it with one large one.

Yes unfortunately if they get too cool they will deflate and after about a day they are deflated. However you could call a florist in the location you are wanting to mail to and have them deliver the balloons fresh.

Yes, the balloons will deflate, usually within about 16 - 24 hours. Sorry! It would have been totally cute.

Mylar balloons--that silvery stuff that doesn't stretch?--may hold it longer, but probably not long enough.

Yes. The healium will leak out of regular balloons on the way there. Mylar balloons would probably make it though. They usually last a few days.

Maybe you could have them delivered from a florist the same day you buy them.
