Fertility drugs stimulate your ovaries, increasing the odds that you'll release several eggs at the same time. On average, 20 percent of women taking gonadotropins will become pregnant with more than one baby. Women who get pregnant while taking the drug Clomid have a 5 to 12 percent chance of twins.
If you undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF), your chances of having more than one child are 20 to 40 percent, depending on how many embryos are placed in your womb. Other fertility techniques such as GIFT (gamete intrafallopian transfer) and ZIFT (zygote intrafallopian transfer) are also more likely to result in multiple pregnancies.
On its own, IUI (intrauterine insemination), in which sperm are injected into the uterus with a syringe, is the only fertility treatment that doesn't increase the chances of conceiving multiples. But most women who undergo IUI also take a fertility drug.
Fertility drugs and other treatments primarily increase your chance of having fraternal twins, where two eggs are fertilized by two different sperm. But there is now some evidence that women who undergo certain treatments also have somewhat higher rates of identical twin

Taking Clomid alone will increase your chance by about 7-10% for twins. It is really slim chance for triplets or more. I ovulate some cycles on my own and others I don't so my doctor put me on Clomid and I asked her this question and she said the chances are still the same. I wouldn't recommend taking Clomid unless you need it and not just for the increase chance in multiples. Best of luck ttc!!!!!!!!!!!

Clomid increases your chance of multiples by a small percent, whether you ovulate or not on your own. I wouldn't take it if you already ovulate...it has side effects that may cause other fertility issues and you run the risk of your ovaries being hyper-stimulated which can be painful. Most doctors only prescribe it if you have an ovulation or luteal phase problem.
Good luck.

it relies upon on your ovulation yet certain........ some human beings are not ovulating in any respect, so the clomid helps them squeeze out one egg with better stimulation........ i replaced into already ovulating, yet my eggs were immature, so the clomid boosted them up slightly, yet also better my follicles..... So I had twins after one cycle on clomid........they're divine.... Predictor checks degree hormone degrees that element out top time for ovulation, yet do not actual allow you to understand for certain whetehr or no longer you effectively released an egg....... commonly ultrasound technologies is used heavily with clomid to observe what percentage follicles are growing to be and ovulating.....they can allow you to understand in the adventure that your body has gone bananas and also you've were given released better than one egg, and also you would possibly want to then choose no longer to have sex that month. besides the undeniable fact that, this is not any longer a precise technology, and they can't stay away from or are expecting same twins, the position one embryo splits.... in case you've ben attempting for a lengthy time period, and it is your chance to have some fulfillment, I say pass for it! Twins are tremendous thrilling! sturdy success

it actually increases your chances more than that. 30% of couples who conceive with clomid have multiples.
FYI - you are supposed to take clomid starting on cycle day 3,4 or 5 and continue for 4 more days. You are only supposed to take 5 pills or 10 (2 a day). No more than that.
