How do you go about submitting a poem for publication?

I am written several poems and would like to submit some of them for publication. I want to start because I am writing a book as well. So, I wonder how to go about having it seen by a publisher as well? Any tips would be great.

I did find a company called Publish America out of PA that has a good BBB rating who pays you, never has you pay. I have used poetry.com and I think everyone who submits gets put in the "book" they can buy. Right?
