Today, usually week 39, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do it week 38. Many hospitals have policies of requiring an amnio to check for lung function for c-sections before 39 because 5% of babies born at week 38 still have undeveloped lungs.
Typically, babies are not delivered during week 37 unless there is a threat to the baby. For instance, a placenta previa would likely be delivered then, but a breech less likely. Ask your doctor when you will likely be scheduled so that you can plan a little.

hi hun, im having a planned section due to my first 2 being emergency sections. I asked when they are done and although hospitals do differ slightly, there are apparently new guidlines that suggest not to do them before 39 weeks. Although 38 weeks is considered full-term, there have been a lot of cases of babies having to go to special care due to breathing difficulties as they are not ready for birth. When you are induced, your body goes through the labour motions and sends signals to the baby that its time to come out but when they do sections without labour starting first, baby doesnt know whats comming and it can be shocked by it. Like i said every hospitla is different but i was told that most wont do them before 39 weeks now unless it is not safe to wait till then or if you go into labour first. Good luck hun and i hope it all goes well x (sorry for the long answer) :)

It always depends on how the baby is doing. If they feel like the baby will do better out, they will do one on the early side. But, if the baby is doing well, they usually do one at 39 weeks. Also, each doctor is different, so I would talk to them. I have one planned for the end of the month, I will be 39 weeks.

Mine was planned for week 39 b/c (she was breech also), but my water broke the day before the scheduled surgery. She was footling breech and they were worried about something - they wouldn't let me walk anywhere because of the position of her foot. No problems, though - water broke, went to the hospital, had the c-section within the hour, and we're doing fine.

It varies by hospital policy, at mine it would be 38 weeks - they don't want to do it too early but ideally need to do it before you go into natural labour. They say once you get to 38 weeks then the baby doesn't have space to turn head down but I would imagine that depends on the size of the baby. My friend's baby was head down at 38 weeks but when she went into labour 4 days later her little 5 pounder had turned over and she had to have a section.

I feel it is safe to have one after 37 weeks. But if you give one more week and deliver on the 39th week i guess the baby will have a little more time to grow. But the doc knows better and if every thing is fine with your baby i guess those last weeks doesnt matter. You ask your doc all the details to set your mind at peace!!!
Prayers to keep you well and to have a smooth safe and peaceful pregnancy :-)

They would normally try to move the baby around first, but if not it's about 38 weeks, that was when my planned c-section was.

Usually they schedule the c-section to be around 5-10 days before your due date. They scheduled mine 5 days before my due date. I'm having mine Oct. 15th and this is my third c-section. When I was pregnant with my daughter they scheduled it about 2 weeks before my due date. Good Luck!!
