beside myself. I am happy also, but terrified of doing this all over again. I know my hormones are off...but I cry, and laugh when I start thinking about this. Anyone else gone through this as far as the older children? How was it start all over again?

my oldest is also 16 and my youngest is 8 I am 35 yrs old and i just recently had a beautiful baby boy. I too had mixed emotions regarding my pregnancy. At first i didnt know how to feel I was shocked when i found out cause I really didnt think I would end up pregnant again. I worried alot cause of my age and I cried alot but that was due to hormonal changes going on but I wouldnt change it for the world. I love my baby and i thank God for blessing me with the most precious baby in the world. Dont worry it will be ok. Youll see. Congrats and God bless.

I have not gone through this but there is a woman that I work with that has two grown children -- 18 and 20. She is 42 years old and just found out that she is pregnant. She is about 8 weeks along and I dont think that she has stopped crying yet. She definitely is not looking forward to this but I know that she is the type of person that will come around.

Best of luck!

Our children were 18, 15, and 12 when our little "surprise" joined our family. After our 12 year old had weaned herself from breast feeding at 11 months, I went back on birth control pills. As the years went by, the Pill was reliable for us and I had no problems with it. My doctor said taking the Pill was fine for as long as it was working for us. However, as with all birth control, nothing is 100% effective and somehow (even my doctor isn't sure how it happened) I ended up pregnant. I never missed a pill. I hadn't been sick nor had I taken any medications that would have interferred with the Pill's effectiveness. I was 17 weeks along when we found out. It was not planned and we spent quite a few weeks trying to come out of shock. I cried for days after finding out. It was a blur of a year. We found out in Feb. I was pregnant. Our oldest graduated high school in June, our baby was born in July, then our oldest went off to college in August. Once the shock wore off, the one thing I kept thinking about was how I soooo didn't want to have to get up multiple times during the night with a newborn again. My pregnancy flew by since it was nearly 1/2 over by the time we found out. We dealt with some issues with the other kids. They were all old enough to know how babies were made. It is actually a little humorous looking back and remembering their horrified reaction at the realization that mom and dad actually still do "it"! Our youngest is spoiled rotten, in essence having been raised by a house-full of adults. We always seem to have a built-in babysitter available and that has been nice. I was so thankful that she turned out to be an excellent sleeper and truly slept through the night from birth. There have definitely been challenges. I found myself a little out of whack with "peers" since parents with kids my older kids ages were reluctant to relate to baby problems again and people with babies just couldn't imagine how it was to have a house full of teenagers. My husband and I have now been married for 30 years and our kids are 28, 26, 22, and 10. 5 years ago we added a son-in-law to our family and we now have a 5 1/2 month old grandson. We never would have picked our family to be like this, but we can't imagine it any other way.

My mom is pregnant right now, and I'm 14, and my youngest sister is 6.

My dad's mom was 42 when she had my dad, and when my grandma was pregnant with dad, it turns out her oldest daughter (22) was pregnant too. So my dad and his oldest sibling are 22 years apart. He's the same age as his neice. It's kinda funny.
