For example. Ottawa Senators did not lose a single game in the Pre-Season. Now in the Regular season they are placed at number 10. They are no where near the Division Leader Status. Why is this? Curious.

It was pre-season. Any stats in pre-season has absoluley NOTHING do to with the regular season.
In the pre-season its mostly prospects of that team. Its for them to get used to the style of play.
Any points ( goals, assists, wins, losses ) don't count for anything in regular season. Everyone starts at 0.
They were probably randomly placed, thats why ottawa was placed in the posistion.

the pre-season has NOTHING to do with it at all. Sure the sens finished 7-0 in the pre-season but that doesn't mean they'll be in the number 1 spot before any regular seasons games are played. Everyone has 0 points before the season starts so...it really doesn't matter where they are placed, they are most likely just randomply placed cause it really doesnt matter at all. and on nhl.com they are placed 9th in the conference, not tenth, and still it means nothing cause everyones tied with ZERO points.

That was pre-season games though. Pre-season games do not count for ANYTHING.
Its mainly for the prospects to get the feel of the NHL and tryout for a spot on the team.
Ottawa may have went undefeated in the pre-season, but that doesnt matter for ANYTHING in the regular season.

pre-season stats don't count toward the regular season standings....pre-season is used for teams to get ready for the season and the will give all the kids at camp a shot at making the team....most teams will only play their regulars in the preseason for a few games...as soon as the teams start playing the regular season all stats for that team are accurate and preseason stats are left in the preseason
