Jimmy Rollins, Matt Holliday, Ryan Howard, or Prince Fielder?

I think it depends if you look at the MVP as the best stats, or the most valuable to his team.

With Rollins, he has Utley and Howard on the team. Without Rollins, would they have made the playoffs, probably not. But, without Howard, or without Utley, would they have? no.

My belief is that they will split that Philly vote.
Now, Holliday is pretty well a one man show.
I was thinking Fielder for most of the year, but his supporting cast seemed to make more of a contribution.

This is probably where the value of the winshare comes in.

If I had to bet, I would be betting Holliday at this point.

Being a Brewer Fan, my obvious choice is Prince Fielder. 50 hr and 119 RBI is a great season, without Prince in the lineup every day the Brewers would have finished 40-122. I know the voters look at the MVP playing for a playoff team, so in that case I have to say Jimmy Rollins. What a season.

Rollins...table setter who hit 30 hrs playing a premier position in the field...
Howard's case is rough because he led the league in strike outs and set a record for them while missing a chunk of the season
Fielder led the nl in hrs which is really nice but he hit only .270
Holliday was the best hitter out of the bunch and I cant argue against him and if Colo makes it in tonight I wouldnt mind Rollins and Holliday spliting the award

As a Mets fan .. I have to say Jimmy Rollins.

He said from the very beginning that they were the team to beat .. and he was right.

He backed it up and look were they are now.

Ryan Howard is a monster and Chase Utley is a phenom but Rollins was the "Spark" that Reyes wasn't for the Mets.

Rollins pulled a Joe Namath early in the season...and he delivered.

Nobody mentions Alfonso Soriano. Without him last year, the Cubs were in last, with him, they were the first team to make the NLDS. When he was out this year the Cubs took a nosedive, this showing his overall value. Look at the stats, he hit nearly .300 with 30-something homeruns. The perfect combination of average and power. Plus, his outfield assists this year were phenominal and saved the Cubs at least the three games they won the division by. Last year the Rockies had the same Matt Holiday and sucked. Same with Peavy and Fielder etc. Soriano made the real difference.

Matt Holliday. The Rockies were not expected to be that good and he has lead them with a .340 average, 36 HRs, and 135 RBIs. Hands down he is the MVP.

If the Rockies win Holliday. If not, Rollins.

No way Fielder, except for HRs, Holliday had better offensive categories all around.
