An F-106 taking off after UFO's with their afterburners on. A hand grenade 25 feet away. A Thompson .45 caliber Submachine gun on automatic with a 300 round drum magazine. An M-60 Machine Gun firing 500 rounds, indoors. A .50 caliber rifle fired at a high explosive round that was armed, inside a canyon. Those are the loudest things I have heard...and my hearing has paid for it.

THE loudest sounds I ever heard were the explosions that leveled Safety-Kleen chemical plant about 3 miles away from me that shattered the windows in my home. I had worked there as a temp just 3 weeks previous to that. WHEW!

Went to The Royal Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford earlier this year. The noise from the Typhoons, F18s and F15s was incredible. Real teeth rattling. Sounded like the end of the world.

Sirens, the sound of a plane taking off, and the scariest of all an earth quake, it measured 4.8 on the Richter scale and everything in the house was shaking the beds moved at least six inch's away from where they were, and then complete silence. Then there were voices outside, people came out onto the street in case of aftershocks, it was terrifying.

A Led Zeppelin concert. Just this past Saturday I was at a football game in the top bleacher when a train went by right behind the bleachers and blew the whistle...my ears were ringing after that...

At Santa Pod drag strip I stood in the barn behind a "Rocket car" and after being warned over the loud speaker system, was nocked off my feet and deafened by the sound of the engine.
I got my hearing back in about two days!

My fire alarm in my apartment building!
2 weeks ago some prankster pulled it at 2:30 in the morning!!! My daughter (21 months) woke up screaming and scared and I didn't know what was going on and someone screamed "FIRE" and I grabbed her and ran down 3 flights of stairs to find 6 guys passed out in the back and everyone else drinking and leaving the bars! I was sooo pissed!

Being in a drive by shooting and a bullet hitting the window next to my head and then striking the top the car. It was all because they thought we were somebody else. Although it was 16 years ago it's a harsh reminder of life. I could hear out of my left ear for a few days.
