I think that if someone you care about dies and you find contentment, you're either confused or pretty dark. Dealing with death is hard, knowing that there isn't something magical waiting for you on the other side makes death dark and frightening. I've lost several family member and a couple of good friends. Only time helps. You slowly get used to that person not being there, like if they moved to another city you wouldn't find it strange that you don't see them every day. It's always a bit sad as far as I can tell, I've never really got over the death of someone I care about at least. It just becomes a little easier to deal with. Just remember the good times, enjoy the fact that you got the time with them you did and remember that it isn't a bad thing to be sad that dead people are dead.

I grew up in Chicago and I remember riding the "L", which is the Elevated trains that take you throughout the city and I remember the sounds they make. I remember the announcer announcing the next stop.
I remember the sound the bell made when you pulled the cord to get off the city bus.
We lived near Lake Michigan and I remember how the waves crashed against the rocks and the shore at night.
Living in the Windy City, I remember the sound of the wind blowing. Especially if you left the window cracked a bit, the wind would make a whistling sound.

The crackling of logs on the fire,
the school bell at home time,
the rag and bone man calling out for used clothes,
car horns, they sounded better when I was little,
my mom singing in the kitchen,
popcorn been made in a pan on the stove.

good morning songs
there was this one:
an egg in a nest
and a nest on a twig
and a twig on a branch
and a branch on a tree
and a tree in a hole
and a hole in the ground
and the green grass grew all around and around
and the green grass grew all around
ps this is the end of the song.

I remember the sounds of Motown. Mostly Temptations and Billy Paul remind me of moving from our first house to the one I grew up in.

I remember the sound of the birds each morning.
This was after I moved from Colorado to Costa Rica, the birds there were pretty loud.
It was pretty cool, it made me feel happy.
