I sold an item on ebay, immediately accepted payment, and then the person contacted me and said they changed their mind. So now I have to refund their money, but my PayPal balance reads $0. Why? Is the money already in my bank account? I checked this morning, doesn't look like it...
I tried to do it as a "pay for ebay item" but it won't let me. Help!!!

If you have no money in your balance when you click the refund button/link it will debit your bank account automatically. It will send the refund as a echeck regardless if your account is verified. It will take 3-4 business days for the buyer to receive the refund. Only refund using the refund button/link. This is the only to get back your paypal fees.

Generally when you set up the PayPal account and add your banking info it will set it to transfer the funds after a certain period of time to your bank account.

You can add the money back to your PayPal account by clicking the Add Funds tab, it's linked to whatever banking account you have and you can then move over whatever amount you want. It take about 3-4 days to transfer typically.

When u log into pay pal look at your transaction history their payment should be there & can then be simply refunded.......if its not listed are you sure they paid, on eBay it will show by the listing you had if payment was made & if pay pal wether it is pending clearance of their funds or not........hope this helps.

First of all, don't let the buyer change his/her mind unless it's in your policy. Don't let someone take advantage of that.

Ask the buyer to file a dispute through Paypal (not eBay). Then Paypal will give you the option of returning the money, and they will take it out of your bank account.
