If men are better than women at everything intellectually, physically and spiritually then where is the threat? Thank you for the answers on this question, but I would also like your broader, objective viewpoint on the big picture, why do so many men try to stop women from proving themselves, like in sports, "Male" trades, and general society? Is it simply a matter of upbringing, being taught from an early age that their father is a better human being than their mother, or similar teachings? Where does it come from, because on paper oppression and aggressive competition doesn't work for the species as a whole. Encouraging each other makes for a much stronger species, not tearing it apart from the inside.

Because men are afraid that women will step on their egos, which i believe the only thing they really have!

I agree. I favor equal rights.

I do not believe in "better" - Men and women tend to have different strengths and weaknesses (there are always plenty of excceptions to any rule), but that is no reason why there should not be equal footing in most respects of the law (I do not beleive men should have any say over women's reproductive systems, and there could be less controversial areas where women should similarly be a disinterested party regarding male biology).

First....don't leave out the women who also feel we shouldn't have the same rights.

I think it's because there's a propensity for people to want to be superior to someone.

That includes race, religion, nationality.......and gender.

People like to feel good about themselves and they don't like to share.

If I'm a left-handed, red-headed white male whose father owned more than 160 acres of land, and some privileges - voting, for instance, or serving on a jury, or running for a Senate seat - are restricted to left-handed, red-headed white males whose fathers owned more than 160 acres of land, then I'm elite and you're not, neener, neener neener. Fetch me a tall cook drink while you are at it, boy [wife, righty, brunette]; I'm going to sit on the porch and take my ease.

Why would I want to give up all that? I'll fight for it. I'm obviously superior to you, so just stay in your place.

When equal is truely equal, I support your argument. But
when thresh holds of acceptance are altered, ... well, there
you go......
