A lot of house fires are caused by unattended electrical items such as washers and tumble dryers. I wouldn't recommend having them switched on whilst you are not in the house, or asleep.

You can if your machine allows a delayed start or is programmed to come on where it left off after the power is cut for example. However, that means if you have a blockage and get a flooded floor you won't know about it till morning!

Yes you can but make sure that the Timer is rated for 20amps before using it. If it's not this could be a potential fire hazard.
