Probably because of shoe technology. There's a pair of shoes for everything nowadays. Also, because of the chance of a guy stepping on your bare foot.

When's the last time you slipped on a soccer cleat? The material is so thin nowadays you can barely tell you're wearing a shoe. I don't know if there are specific "kicker" shoes, but if there are, I'd imagine they're similar. There's no reason to kick barefoot.

Maybe that's because professional football players are all degenerates and thugs now. Why are there no bare-footed kickers anymore? Because it hurts when a three hundred pound man steps on your foot with spikes.
