The Pond Scum team got what they deserve. If you think you can coast through the end of a season, you deserve to lose.

You don't feel "bad" for a guy that's making 17 million dollars a year. You could feel ashamed that he hasn't ever been able to carry a team deep into the playoffs, but that's bound to happen to some stars who are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Look at George Gervin, Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Tracy McGrady, and Dominique Wilkins. They're all great players who have never appeared in an NBA Finals, but they all have legacies. Carmelo is 28 so he's not too old to start building a legacy and making himself a memorable player. He just won the scoring title, so if he can win another scoring title or two, his lack of playoff success will be overlooked a little less. Hopefully all of the bashing he's getting will motivate him to propel the Knicks to an even better season next year, and that he follows up the best season of his career with an even better one.

I feel worse for the fans ( Like myself ) who were teased for the whole year with this "Half ***" team of chokers.

I'm a huge Mets fan but I think Willie DID NOT have control of his team. A week before the defeat, Willie said not to worry and that his team would be "sipping" champange. Uh, .. you don't say those things. You just DON'T!

I don't like the "dancing" and the "slapping" on the field BS.

Its' NOT professional and it's not respectful. I don't think Randolph should come back as manager. It's to much. They need a Lou Pinella like manager to get in their faces and straighten them out...especially Reyes and Milledge.

That "Hip Hop" attitude of theirs is not acceptable.

Congrats to the Phillies. They did it right and they didn't give up.

The Mets let it get away and the deserve what they got.

Not the fans.

Feel bad for him? I am a die hard Mets fan, but to watch your team blow a 7 game lead with 17 to play was sickening to watch. I am sorry but I cant feel bad about him getting booed yesterday. he deserved to get booed and screamed at yesterday. The Mets were almost everyones pick to make the world series this year, and he let everyone on his team get lazy, I saw almost no motiviation by him at all the entire month of September. I am sure they will bring him back, and I actually agree with that, but I hope he learned a lesson to show a little more aggression down the stretch.

He got what he deserved. He sat back for the last 2 weeks saying 'we will be ok'. He is too passive. He is not a motivator at all. He took defeat sitting down, never forced the issue. So long Willie, you are now the manager for the greatest collapse ever.

Couldn't agree with you more..........Willie has done a great job with the Mets and I'm hoping the Met Powers That Be realize that............If he gets axed I'm hoping another team will pick him up quickly or Steinbrenner will take him back........However, not making the playoffs is going to cost the Mets a fortune..........I read this morning that they stand to lose over 40 million in playoff seats, merchandise and concessions..........That's NOT going to sit well with those Powers........Plus they're now worried about filling seats in their new stadium, scheduled to open in 2009...........If the Mets don't produce a team that can go to the playoffs and Series a lot of people may come to the games disguised as "empty seats"....................CAT

I stopped following baseball when they went to a playoff system, b/c I always thought that 162 was enough to figure who was top and who was not.

Guess I was right.

I would have been a G-D travesty if the Mets had gotten into the playoffs, and then the Series, after a collapse like that.

Plus, I just hate the NY teams. Mets, Yankees, Jets, Giants - any sport. They are all over-hyped and under-performing.

He poor guy

I think he's a terrific manager but his players don't execute his good gameplan on the field and I don't the should be blamed for that

The mets players should take the fault not their manager who worked hard to get them to the playoffs last year (first time in nearly 6 years) so he deserves better treatment than he's getting now

I feel bad for Willie but I also feel bad for the fans to have to suffer for the last week of the regular season.

Feel bad? When you tank like that, who do you point the finger at? Is he leading that ball club? There's a little too much dancing and smiling going on with that team when they are losing. Remember, they play in Queens because they act like em'.
