I'm just curious. Reyes is quick and a great defensive player, but can the comparison really be made? Is Reyes a switch hitter off the field as well? Someone told me they saw him and David Wright stocking up on tissues Sunday night at a 711 in Queens. At first, my friend said it didn't look suspicious until Jose gave David a little fanny tap that finished with a pinch.

To BrettJ666: That is probably why you are not managing or rooting for a team in the postseason.

Well if he's the best shortstop he's the worst leader in the league. He showed no motivation, intensity or care the last month of the season. The fact that he doesn't hustle out every single play proves he is not the best. He is better defensively than Jeter, but that's about it. Jeter is more clutch, more consistent, the ultimate team player and a great leader.
Reyes has a terrible attitude, and sets a horrible example for both his teammates and kids that look up to him as a role model.

Jose Reyes? Was he even in the lineup the last month of the season? While he can run like a gazelle and play great defense, I can't stand players who don't hustle on every play and players who take a month off. What did Reyes do over the last month of the season beside helping the Mets complete the biggest choke in NL history. Even though I hate the Yankees, I will always respect Derek Jeter. Without him the Yankees have 0 rings. Jeter is the most clutch player in the game today bar none.

As a Mets fan, it's silly to compare ANY player to Derek Jeter and when I mean ANY player, I mean ANY player.. including his teammate A-Rod.
Jeter can have 79 RBIs and 78 of them will count.
Last time I checked, Jeter has 4 Championship Rings - Yeah, that's a lot. So that kinda says: Even if you hit 125 Homeruns and drive in 200 RBIs, it don't mean a thing if you ain't got that ring.
New Yorkers and the Media LOVE to compare players from different teams. They've been doing this since 1947 when all 3 big teams had great players.
I don't hate the Yankee players or other teams .. but I do dislike the Yankee fans with their attitudes and their stupid comments like the one you posted.
That withstanding, I'm still gonna root for the Yanks cuz I'm a New Yorker.

top now definite. As a die difficult Mets fan it pains me to assert that Jeter is probable the perfect shortstop interior the historical past of manhattan baseball. Jose Reyes defenitely has a great gamble to be greater suitable than Reyes, yet its too early in his profession to tell. i will take Jose any day nonetheless.

I would rather take speed and the defense of Reyes over Jeter.
Much of Jeter's alure is team based and mostly carried by the torch of the fans.
Personal Insult: Does that imply because you like Jeter better, that you are managing a big league team? Oh, can't see the connection, that's because there isn't any.
Oh, and I of course am rooting for a team in the post season. Cleveland

The best i don't think so but he is still young and has a lot of time to mature into the game. His stats dropped the 2nd half of the season. If his on base % goes up i could see him breaking stealing records in future years to come. He great with the glove. A little lazy at times but that will improve over time.

I think he has alot of potential but trying to say he's the best shortstop is way immature to say. A Jeter he isn't.
