This is usually down to a leaking heater matrix, is your car using/losing water? The matrix is a radiator inside your heater box and as the car engine warms up your fans will push air through it and this is how you get warm air into your car. If you check the carpets down in the footwell they may be wet, find a good mechanic/ auto- electrician explain to them what is happening and they will sort this out. This is usually a dashboard out job and the labour bill can be quite high. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Could be just an accumulation of dust on the vitals - that sort of produces a spicy smell until it burns off.
I have had worse. Many moons ago my "mates" strapped raw fish to the exhaust manifold.
Charming.
Even after removing the offending items, the car smelt like a fish market for weeks.
So if you have not been subjected to a prank, then just running the heater for a good amount of time should burn away the pong.
Bob.

It isn't cool enough where I live to use the heater yet, but the first few times you do use it there will be odors because of the
dust etc that has collected during the time of non use. If it really
bothers you open the windows and let the engine run for a bit
with the heater going full blast.

check to see if there is a loose hose going from your radiator or if there is a puncture in a hose....you can do this by starting the car with the hood open and see if anything is spurting, leaking, puddling etc..there should be nothing wet under there... antifreeze, coolant and rad fluid always smells pretty rancid when it hits the hot motor....i am not a mechanic so it could be something else but that is the first thing i would check

someone has been in your car either before you bought it, or when it was borrowed, and have either thrown up after eating a curry, or spilt a curry over the dashboard and it has got down into the heating vents. Everytime you turn on the heater you'll smell this. It's very difficult to remove.

you should check for some bactaria build up. normally the car's heater is a real breeding ground for all types of stuff. this is caused by a damp wet interior. that smell could be eminating from some type of bactaria.

They usually smell a bit if you haven't used them all summer. The smell will go in a few days - using the fan will speed things up.

Change the cabriolet (sp.?) filter. That's the one under the wipers that clears the airco/heater
