Other than hanging up, what lines or techniques do you use to get rid of a telemarketer?

Oh my ,I had one that called constantly,and realy Pi$$&d me off.I also called there a few times to get taken off there Callinglist,but it did never happend,and i threaten to report it as Harassment,because they should have took me off of there list .I just gave my little Daughter the Phone and let her babble some words with them,they always hang up on here after a few blabbla from her.But a couple of times I just talked to them like out of my Head.Acted like I knew them as a friend and just keep talking of the Wall things like ,oh man I was at Burgerking and the burger i ordered was so good and when I went to walmart they have that creamer I always use ,but they didnt have it ,so I had to buy a dif.one and I tryed it is not my .....and so on....Or if you want ,if its a guy ,act like you know him or want him ,a girl also ,,dosent realy matter ,just some off the wall that comes in your mind.I think you get the hint!!! Just keep on talking like they usaly do .LOL They will hang up after a while ,believe me ,they think you are fool...hahahhaaha..Worked for me big time...they do not call me anymore....Thank God they dont.....good luck Siggi

I sometimes say.....
Well, since your on the phone, let me ask you a couple questons.
If they don't hang up, I ask them...do you know that Jesus died for your sins? Are you saved? Would you like to confess anything to me?
This always works!

Or you could try this....
For every question they ask you, give them a rating. For example...if they ask "Are you satisfied with your current long distance carrier?", say ...you get a 2 for that one! I've heard it before! But be serious! they get annoyed, or laugh, and hang up.
Either way, you get rid of them!

I've never really had a problem with it, but my mom starts acting really interested in whatever it is they're selling, and then she says something like, "Well, my husband just left me, but I've got a credit card, is that okay?" And then she starts telling about her relationship and financial troubles, but insists she desperately wants whatever it is they've got, and in the end, THEY'RE the ones trying to get HER off the phone!

OR start talking like borat

I ask them to hold on and let the phone down. Then I go and do whatever I was doing and see how long they stay on the line.

Or I'll tell them I already have that product so they can update their records.

Or I've told them before that I am extremely wealthy and I could care less if bundling together my services can save x-amount of money each month. That usually frustrates them.

i once got a newspaper sales person to offer to teach me to read after insisting that i was 16 and couldn't read and no body ever tried to help, he felt so bad then like 5 mins later i started laughing and hung up

Say to them "for my own safety this call is being recorded" and then ask them to repeat who they are - they usually hang up

let them talk to you for ages and ages and keep making enthusiastic noises (for at least a good ten mins), then blow done the phone and start shouting "hello?" then hang up ;)

I tell them I'm going thru bankruptcy. They can't hang up fast enough and they don't call back.
