Yes, most of the time we are living at the comfort zone and get used to it. When you are out of the comfort zone, your old self want you to go back, and stay there. Unless you have stronger mind, otherwise you have become your worst enemy.
Enemy or rival can actually can force you to improve your self. Mainly is the ego that drive you to improve and upgrade your self. This is so called Kiasu attitude.
In the other hand, you mind always ask you to be comfort and relax. Most of the people who failed to lost weight because lost to their mind. This is common among the week mind or with out clear goal.

Yup - you create your own stress, you are the one pushing yourself too hard when you want something so badly that you fail to see what you are doing to your very own self.
You give permission to people to make you angry, but blame others instead - you create the hate that turns you against somebody, but it could have been otherwise.
You put food in your mouth which could be rotten for your health, but you can also put the most nutritious food right in.

not really though, coz when you have that phrase in mind, sometimes it shows that you don't appreciate yourself, you tend to hate yourself when things aren't up to your expectation. Enemy is just something we create because of hate. There's no reason you have to be the enemy of someone else or yourself. Just love yourself, coz you never know where you might end up next time.

Yes I do believe, if (like me) one eats, drinks and smokes too much then one could be considered ones own worst enemy, couldn't one?

Yes. People have a tendency to fixate on negative thoughts thereby creating self-destructive thinking patterns.
