At 30 weeks your baby is very small and very immature.
I gave birth to my son at 32 weeks and he weighed 3lbs 2oz, had feeding and breathing issues, jauntice and 2 brain bleeds.
My suggestion is to hold that baby as long as you can, for the health of your baby.

If you did go really early, these days your baby would have a very good chance of survival...of course, as the weeks go on, the baby would have a much, much higher chance of surviving and being healthy.
But really - don't worry about it. Most of us women feel like they're going to go early when we get sooo uncomfortable. The last 10 weeks are very long, uncomfortable ones. :)

i work for a hospital in the transport division and we often transport premature babies. the survival rate of babies is getting better. 24 weeks is the minimum that is survivable but the longer you are pregnant the better. 30 week deliveries are still iffy but most of those babies still have to spend a LONG time in the NICU. the longer you can be pregnant the better for your baby.

maybe...if u were to go into labor they will inject you with steriods to fasten up the developement of the baby's lungs, there is a huge chance that when the baby is delivered its lungs will not be fully formed and bub won't be able to breathe on its own so it will have to go into nicu and stay on a breathing tube until the baby not only puts more weight on but can also breathe on its own

Your doctor will be able to tell you if you are going to go early. The baby's lungs are not completely developed yet, and would probably be on a respirator until they mature.
If you are afraid you will go early, I would talk to your doctor about it, and your doc may suggest bed rest. You want that little one in there full term if possible so he/she develops completely! Good luck!

Your baby has an excellent chance of survival, however there may be some problems.
There's RSV, some babies this young have to be fed with a tube...lots of problems.
Also, my nephew was born at 31 weeks and he has a physical disibility that doctors have directly linked to his prematurity.

the closer you get to 50 weeks the better, how ever many babies are born before 34 weeks...... the big concern is lung development, talk to your Dr.
